Phase 3 Protocols

League Guidelines

  • To participate in any team activity all players, coaches, volunteers, and spectators must not show any signs of COVID-19. According to the CDC, the primary signs are:
    • body aches
    • cough
    • fever/chills
    • new loss of smell/taste
    • runny or congested nose
    • shortness of breath
    • sore throat
  • If any individual develops any COVID-19 symptoms during a practice or game, the person is required to notify a coach. The individual may be removed from the activity and instructed to return home
  • MYS will educate all players, coaches and spectators on proper protocols for Phase 3 compliance
  • All MYS players will be required to wait in their cars until the field is cleared off from the team ahead of them before entering the field/playing surface

Social Distancing

  • Groups of no more than 25 – including coaches
  • Groups will be required to be at least 20 feet apart while sharing a playing surface
  • No more than 25 people on the field at one time
  • Individuals will maintain 6ft distancing from one another:
    • On the field whenever possible
    • On the bench/sideline area
  • Benches will extend to behind the dugout
  • Require face covering or masks for staff and spectators
  • Batters and baserunners are required to wear a COVID-19 protective mask if able (Gaiter masks are suggested)
  • Catchers do not need to wear COVID-19 protective masks
  • Infielders are required to wear a COVID-19 protective mask if able (Gaiter masks are suggested)
  • Outfielders are not required to wear COVID-19 protective masks
  • Players may remove face covering if maintaining more than a 6ft distance from one another (Gaiter masks are suggested)
  • Spectators will be required to maintain social distancing and are strongly encouraged to wear masks

 Hygiene Protocols

  • Hand sanitizer will be required before and at the end of practice/games
  • No shared equipment: players must have their own fielders’ mask, batting helmet, glove, and bat.
  • No shared liquids or food items
  • No gum, seeds or food that encourage/require spitting
  • No eating in the dugouts
  • No spitting on the field
  • Any coughing or sneezing should be covered by arm and done so in adequate distance from others
  • No handshaking, high fives, or any kind of social contact during practice/games
  • All players’ equipment will be spaced apart from each other and be neatly put away after each use
  • Dugouts will be sanitized after each game
  • All portable bathrooms will have hand washing station installed and sanitized twice per day when games/practices are played. Some fields may not have portable bathrooms


Equipment for use

  • Please note that MYS can provide a player with a fielders’ mask, batting helmet, and bat for the summer season
  • Similarly, MYS can provide catchers with a full set of catchers’ equipment for the season
  • We fulfill requests on a first-come, first-served basis, as MYS has a limited supply of some equipment
  • MYS has provided  gaiter masks for 2020 summer season players and coaches
