MYS Health and Wellness Guidelines

MYS Follows U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Recommendations for Staying Healthy

Cover your coughs and sneezes:  Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue, and throw used tissues in a lined trash can. Immediately wash your hands (see below).

Clean your hands often:  Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol, covering all surfaces of your hands and rubbing them together until they feel dry. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

Minimize direct contact:

  • Do not share personal items such as water bottles – additionally:
    • All MYS players are required to have a glove and a fielder’s mask. (We don’t want players to sit-out due to financial hurdles. Please contact for more information.)
    • MYS provides each team with a limited number of helmets, bats, and catcher’s equipment for players that do not have them (and fielder’s masks for players that forget them).
  • Clean “high-touch” surfaces:  For MYS, this includes cleaning team softball equipment used at the end of each day or before the next scheduled use (e.g., before the next game).
  • Adopt a virtual “good game handshake”:  We will continue post-game sportsmanship practices between competing teams, but will not have players physically high-five each other.
